Yes! It is safe to travel to Israel!
The news channels broadcast the clashes that sometimes take place in Israel, but what you don't see is the beautiful beaches, people living a normal life, Muslims, Jews and Christians living peacefully together, and so on. And throughout Israel you see large tour buses loaded with tourists going from site to site.
What you see through a lens of a camera, which is framed by a very limited space, does not mean the event is happening throughout the country. It is often contained. And the security measures that Israel takes to protect its citizens is probably one of the highest in the world. Israel spends a vast amount of its GPA on security. You can read more about it here.
If you are tourist in Israel, the tour guides and tour operators have up to date knowledge about any security issues, and will receive instant notification to protect the tourists in Israel. And not only about security issues, but for example, if the cable car that goes up to Masada breaks down, your tour guide will be alerted to the issue, and will then figure out a plan b for the group so they will not be stuck in a line up to get up on top of Masada.
